KMart launches the first brand-produced U.S. Hispanic video series distributed through YouTube. Connecting with Hispanic moms, Madres y Comadres (Madre meaning mother, and ‘Comadre’ which translates to a mother’s close female friend that she confides in), is an eight-part original Spanish-language miniseries focused on Hispanic mothers and the unique challenges they face raising a family in America while also remaining true to their Hispanic identity.
The webisodes (helmed by Alberto Ferreras known best for his long-running “Habla” series on HBO Latino) are styled similar to ‘telenovelas’. A custom YouTube channel has launched, in partnership with Google, as the hub for the series.
“Kmart is a heritage brand with a rich history in America. We’re passionate about the diversity of our customer base and excited about the opportunity to speak directly with our Hispanic customers while celebrating their culture and traditions,” said Mark Snyder, chief marketing officer, Kmart.
“The first episode of Madres y Comadres launched this month just in time for back to school and aligns with the recently launched Latina Smart Facebook page, allowing Kmart to develop a deeper relationship with Hispanic women who are both tech savvy, yet underserved from a content perspective.”
The scripted series is accompanied by twelve video interviews with real Hispanic moms from Mexico, Peru, Guatemala and Colombia coping with the nuances of raising American children in a traditional Hispanic household.
In celebration of Madres y Comadres, I will be hosting a drawing this weekend for one lucky reader to win a FREE $50.00 KMart gift card! You can use it to grab a few pieces from Sofia Vergara’s new line, snag some hair products or maybe even a few organizers for that enormous collection of beauty products you’ve accumulated. (LOL)
To enter the drawing, simply leave a comment on the post below and send me an email with “Madres y Comadres” in the subject line.
That’s it! Deadline for all entries is Sunday, August 28th at 11:59PM EST.
